Urban Forest is an integrated art concept for a new public plaza in Vancouver
that explores the layered relationship between the site’s natural arboreal history and the later imposition of the city’s street grid. A cantilevered seating element composed of multiple layers of laminated wood varieties floats above a grid of embedded LED lights. Underfoot, text elements poetically describe the qualities of the tree species that once grew on the site.
