Six stainless steel shafts rise dynamically out of the ground on a south facing grassy knoll, forming a public garden in Coal Harbour. The sculptures are inspired by the exploration devices used to search (unsuccessfully) for coal on the site in the mid-19th century. These glass and metal vessels act as periscopes and telescopes, allowing viewers to see an unexpected collage of reflected and actual views of the site’s past, present and future.
