Status To be completed 2026
Rooted is an inhabitable sculpture developed in collaboration with Bellevue’s Japanese American community and the Snoqualmie Nation. It reflects the region’s history of displacement from industrial development while honoring the resilience of the land and its communities. Formed from sculpted Corten steel I-beams, two organic shapes rise and intertwine, culminating in twin circular voids—one recalling an ancient tree, the other holding a reflective surface that invites viewer participation.
