Luminous Passage draws inspiration from the railway lanterns that once guided trains through Red Deer. Re-imagined on a monumental scale, the illuminated, and interactive sculpture becomes a contemporary beacon that connects visitors to the river’s natural ecology and layered histories. Rather than signalling locomotives, the choreography of shifting light and colour in this installation mirrors the seasonal rhythms and transformations of local plants, berries, and wildlife along the Red Deer River.
